Hello again to the masses! Where have you been all my life?!? Oh how Ive missed you so...
Ive just begun to peel myself off of the floor from a CRAZY holiday season. I think I fell down in a crowd somewhere and there wasn't anyone who could help me up! Why? Because Sillyheads Photography is one person, and as much as I could of used a second set of hands- I needed that set to know a Nikon D300 and Photoshop. haha! (Oh well, maybe I can give my brainiac 10 year old some tips in the next few months.)
December brought lots of "Xmas carders"- a couple of whom called the week OF xmas. (You know who yo are!) Luckily, they were talked into the idea of "New Years" cards instead. "C'mon! All the cools kids are doing it!"
Xmas cards are my thing. :) It's one the places I can really have some fun with the whole process. My favorite thing to do is think of an idea, then shoot images of a client specifically for the card. Here's an example of a tri-fold card where we knew exactly how we wanted our pictures to look. I also love that they let me use such bold non-xmas colors!
"He sees you when you're sleeping"
"He knows if you've been bad... or good?"
Another card I had a lot of fun with was making the family into snowflakes. I had seen something like it in a book somewhere way back when and knew as soon as I saw that I wanted to do something along the same lines. This is what I came up with for another client... we used these in a card where the inside message said "Have a great flakin' 2010" :)
* I did my personal cards this way too! :)
Admittedly, (and selfishly!) my ultimate goal is for a client to get phone calls from people who- when they get their cards- are freaking out about how they are the best they've ever seen. :)
Even my facebook status update as I was working on my own cards was, "I WILL WIN the XMAS CARD war!" My brother in law managed to put it into some perspective, though, when he sarcastically responded, "Nothing says "Yeah Jesus!" like a war, I'll agree with ya there."
OK fine, I'll tone down the competitiveness a little.
