After a super duper busy holiday season- I decided I was going to take some off in January and February... no blogging, no shooting, no editing. Not only is it pretty darn cold, but I wanted to let the creative and inspiring juices build back up a little. (Plus, my camera and lenses could use a little spiffin' up at the shop.) Funny enough, it didn't quite work out like that. :)
BUT, Im not going to complain, especially when you break off your break for a GREAT family. I had the lovely "P" family call me to schedule some family shots for the spring, but their super sweet oldest daughter, Alli, has also had a great year at her school. So, "Mrs. P" wanted to commemorate her daughter being a part of the homecoming court, AND the beautiful dress she wore. I have to say, it wasn't hard to pick up some cold weather inspiration once again after meeting them!
We spent a couple hours together, starting out at Faith Christian High School in Grapevine where we captured Alli with her "mum." It's a southern tradition, so I'm still trying to learn as much as I can, but it's basically just a flower (the mum) set into a big bow of sorts, and decorated with ribbons and trinkets and teddy bears and whatever else you can stick on. (I only know THIS much because my son is in his freshman year, too, and we had to make one for HIS girlfriend at the time. And they AREN'T cheap!) The funny thing is, they get super heavy, and girls are contantly tugging them back up! Try wearing this thing around school all day!
From there, Alli changed into her homecoming gown. She managed to still look gorgeous, even while a braving a chilly wind. She a super cutie, one of those semi-shy girls who manages to steal your heart with a genuine niceness. I credit great parenting! ;)
And probably my fav.... I love Grapevine's main street!
Can't wait for the family shoot in a few weeks!
